SECURITY LEVELS

WHAT ARE THE SECURITY LEVELS OF
OUR SAFES?

When testing safes, a distinction is made between burglary protection and fire protection .

Both tests are performed by independent testing institutes in accordance with European criteria.
The safes tested are classified according to the level of resistance according to the test result.

Security levels for safes show how long it takes to forcibly open a safe without the appropriate code or key.
This time is coded in RU (resistant units) .

This means that the higher the security level, the more difficult it is to open a safe by force.

During the test, all mechanical, electrical and thermal tools that unauthorized persons may use to try to open a safe are used.

Here are some examples:

Hammer
Drill
Angle grinder
Torch

Test institutes keep secret some of the special tools used in testing to prevent imitations.

Materials Testing Institute at the Technical University of Braunschweig

The so-called Braunschweig test is a standardized quality testing procedure for safes developed by the University of Braunschweig.

The Braunschweig test always includes two stress tests that differ depending on the quality class of a safe. First, the fire resistance of the safe is checked in a Braunschweig test.

In addition, the Braunschweig test includes a drop test in which the heated safe is thrown onto a bed of gravel from a height of 9.15 m and then heated again at 840 ° C for 30 minutes.

The safe receives an appropriate approval seal only after a successfully completed Braunschweig test.
